What sort of TV are you using? Standard or HD?

The game was made in widescreen format, most games are now days. So those black bars are permanent, you'll just have to accept them unless you can play on a widescreen tv. I'd recommend upgrading to an HD tv somewhere down the road, there are some cheap ones that work fine for video game purposes. Mine was only 200 bucks and I split the cost with my parents and got it as a christmas present, it only gets 720p but trust me games look so much better on it than a standard tv. The games that forced me to upgrade were ME2 and Skyrim, couldn't read any text on screen cause they were rendered for HD not SD.
